Exploring Spokane & Lake Coeur d’Alene on road trip
This summer, we hit the road for an unforgettable family adventure! Our destination? Spokane, Washington, and the beautiful Lake Coeur d’Alene in nearby Idaho. From scenic highways to sparkling lakes and waterfalls, this trip had everything we hoped for—and more.
We drove on I-90 and saw the mighty Columbia River and Columbia Plateau. It was exciting to see “Entering Columbia Basin” because I read about it. While driving I noticed that elevation decreased as soon as we moved away from cascade mountains driving towards the Columbia plateau. I was amazed by the change in landscape from mountains to flat farm lands.
After driving past Columbia Plateau, we entered Idaho near exit 299. I was happy to see the “Welcome to Idaho” sign. We went to Lake Coeur d'Alene. We took a lake cruise. Did you know that Idaho has more than 2000 lakes? Lake Pend Oreille is the largest of it. Lake Coeur d'Alene is beside i-90. We saw a part of the bridge from the cruise. It was sunny and very hot.
Later we drove back to Spokane. Spokane is one of the largest cities in the east of cascades. There is a hydro electricity plant in Spokane. It has upper falls and lower falls which are both part of Spokane falls. Spokane falls is a sacred place for Native American tribes. There is a gondola ride also to go near the lower falls. We walked across both upper and lower falls. I felt happy when the water drops from the falls splashed on my face. It made me feel cool in the hot summer.
I was happy to see Spokane and Idaho. I enjoyed the cruise most. I also enjoyed the road trip seeing all the road signs and making jokes with my brother. We had lots of fun on this road trip. I am excited for more family road trip in summer break.
