Trip to Washington DC

We visited Washington DC on June 22nd. We went on United airlines from Seattle to Washington DC.  It was 5 hours flight. We reached DC at 10:30 EST.  We had planned a 5 day trip there.

Day 1 trip

On Day 1, we went on metro. We got down at foggy bottom station. We walked to Lincoln memorial. Abraham Lincoln statue is 19 feet tall. He was in sitting pose. We saw some parts of his inauguration speech on the wall. I liked the statue a lot. It looked very majestic. And then we went to Korean war memorial, and we had lunch. And then we went to Thomas Jefferson, Martin Luther King and Franklin D Roosevelt memorial. When I went to Thomas Jefferson memorial, I was excited because I had been on some parts of Oregon and Washington. It was where Lewis and Clark camped for their expedition. I also went to the last part of their trip, Seaside Oregon. This was where they made salt before they headed back to St. Louis. So, I felt like Lewis and Clark and informed Mr. President that mission is accomplished and we found mouth of Columbia river joining pacific ocean.

Day 2 trip

On Day2, we went to American history of museum. We saw a section about transportation history. There was a timeline event about 2 Americans driving from SFO to New York. I also saw information about route 66. It was one of the oldest roads built from Chicago to Los Angles. There was actual pavement in the museum.  I was excited to stand on the actual pavement of the road from Oklahoma City. Then I saw I-10. It was also one of the oldest interstates built in United States. Transportation section had all the historical events of how roads were developed in USA.

Then I went to US president’s section. There was as wall with all the presidents’ names and timeline with events. I read all the names of presidents. This was my favorite section. There are 46 presidents in USA. My favorite presidents are Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and Thomas Jefferson. Later I also saw Lincoln’s hat when he was assassinated. This story made me sad. I also saw George Washington statue. Later after lunch, went to natural history of museum. I saw butterflies, dinosaurs, and mammals. I also saw evolution of mammals. One butterfly came on my shirt. I even saw Egypt mummies and statues.

Later, we saw white house. It was built in 1800. John Adams was the first president who lived there.

Day 3 trip

We went to Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center Smithsonian national air and space museum in Virgina on Saturday. We saw movie “Journey to Space”. It was about NASA plans to travel to Mars . I also saw Neil Armstrong poster there. I have the same poster. There were so many planes on display including glider planes, supersonic planes, and jet fighter planes. We also saw the supersonic planes which can go to NY to France in 3 hours. Oh, my goodness!!! We also saw the Discovery space Shuttle, lunar modules, mars rover and space rocket ships. I liked the museum.

Day 4 trip

On Sunday we went to World War 2 memorial. Each state had memorial. I also saw the freedom wall. There are 4048 gold stars.

Day 5 trip

We went to the zoo. We saw tigers, lions, zebras, monkeys, sloth bears, panda bear. I saw elephant going poopy and potty. It was so funny. And then we drove to Maryland and I saw welcome to Maryland sign.
